·         The tallest structure in the world opened on January 4, 2010 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

·         It’s held the world record since 2009 and stands 2,722 ft tall. That’s just over a 1/2 mile tall!

·         Construction took 6 years

·         Estimated total cost for the project was $1.5 billion

·         The building contains

o   57 elevators, 8 escalators and 2,909 stairs from the ground floor to the 160^th floor

The Hoover Dam is an impressive man-made structure. There’s a whopping 3.25 million cubic yards of concrete for the dam itself, plus another 1.11 million cubic yards for the power plant and additional facilities. That amount of concrete would be enough to build 3,000 miles of road—a full-sized highway from one end of the United States to the other.  The dam’s energy helps provide power for customers in California, Arizona, and Nevada and creates enough energy for 1.3 million people. When it was completed in 1936, the Hoover Dam was the tallest dam in the world at 726 feet from base to top. It held the height title for two decades.

The average safety hard hat weighs approximately 14 ounces. The average worker's head weighs 14 pounds. So there's an ounce of safety for every pound of head!

According to the Greek historian Herodotus, it took 400,000 men twenty years to construct this great monument. The Greeks listed the Great Pyramid of Giza as the first wonder of the world and it is the only one of the seven still remaining to this day.
